Ipl 2023 Runs List
Since the inception of the IPL in 2008, Indian players have been the top run scorers with 4 of the top 5 Indians. When it comes to the orange cap, however, the data shows the opposite. In the 16 years until 2023, overseas players have won the Orange Hat Award 10 times. Couldn’t get a big win as India got only 6 orange caps.

But what do we think about the top scores of Indian players in IPL every year? This will help us better connect with Indian players and will only bring fair comparisons. So, let’s take a look at the top score rankings of Indian players in the IPL for each year from 2008 to 2023.
Out of general knowledge of our users, we only rank the highest running scores of Indian players every year. So, we only have one entry per year. For example, KL Rahul scored 659 in the 2018 IPL but might not appear in this list as Rishabh Pant was picked at 684 that year.
Coming in at No. 16 is Suresh Raina in 2009. Raina was 100 shots behind Gautam Gambhir’s 534 in 2008, but that may have happened on the tougher African wicket. Despite Suresh’s poor swing, he scored 434 points in 2009 with an average of 31 but hit a solid 140.9 from the field.
Gautam Gambhir is 15th overall in the 2017 IPL with 498 matches. This was Gotti’s final year in the IPL and he did not disappoint. Gotti became the second-highest running score player of the year, behind only Warner’s 641 points. He totaled 498 runs in 16 innings for an average of 41.5, with four over 50 runs.
Fastest 50 In Ipl History (2008
Gautam Gambhir, ranked 14th, is once again India’s star player in the 2008 IPL. Gambhir scored an impressive 534 points to finish second on the Orange Cap leaderboard. Gambhir leads second-best Indian Yusuf Pathan by 99 points. Overall, Gambier hit five over-50s that year, tying with Orange Caps champion Shaun Marsh for best.
In 2015, Ajinkya Rahane of the Rajasthan Royals entered the highest running category. The current 2023 edition might be the best of the bunch, but Rahane stole the limelight with his stellar 2015 RR performance. Rahann scored 534 runs in 13 innings for an impressive 49.1 run average.
2011 belonged to Virat Kohli, who scored 557 runs that season; four more than his idol, Sachin Tendulkar. Kohli scored just 307 in 2010 and 557 in 2011 for an average of 46.4. For most of that year, Kohli played an excellent substitute role in front of RCB’s Gayle.
Gautam Gambhir made his third appearance on the list, again at No. 11. Gambier was India’s top run scorer in 2008 and again in 2012. He scored an incredible 590 runs that season; 21 more than second-placed Indian Shikhar Dhawan. Gambier scored an impressive 6-50 that season, one shy of Gale’s 7.

Coming in at number 10 is a newcomer, KL Rahul. Rahul is arguably the “Mr Consistent” of the IPL, scoring an impressive 593 runs in 2019 after scoring over 600 in the previous season. Rahul became the second highest scorer of the season after Warner who scored 692 points. What was special about Rahul was that he scored seven 50-plus runs in just 14 innings that season.
With 616 runs in the 2022 season, KL Rahul once again has its sights set on No. 9. This is the fifth consecutive year that KL Rahul has scored 500+ runs in an IPL season, making him the only player in IPL history to achieve this feat. Rahul’s 616 was 129 more than second-best India’s Hardik Pandya.
The cricket god Sachin Tendulkar appears in the number 8. Not only was Sachin the best Indian in the 2010 campaign, he also won the Orange Hat with a total of 618 runs. Tendulkar scored 618 runs in 15 innings with a 47.5 average on 132.6 hits, including five 50-plus runs.
In 2013, Virat Kohli broke all records held until 2012 to become the top scorer in that year’s IPL season. Kohli scored an impressive 634 runs in 16 innings, averaging 45.3 runs and hitting 138.7 runs. Kohli has scored six half-centuries this season, but has failed to score a hundred with his highest score of 99.

6th is Ruthuraj Gaikwad, who started the 2021 season as a CSK player who did not play for his national team but finished India ahead of the delayed start of the second half of the season. First show. IPL 2021 Orange Cap champion Ruthuraj scored 635 runs in 16 innings, scoring over 50 five times.
The year was 2014 and Robin Uthappa broke Virat Kohli’s record for most runs in an IPL season. In 2014, Uthappa scored 660 runs to help his team KKR to success. What’s more, in 2014, Utapa became the second Indian player to win the Orange Cap and the first Indian player to win the Orange Cap while winning the IPL trophy.
In fourth place is KL Rahul, his third appearance on the list. Not only was KL Rahul the best Indian player during the suspension, he also won the Orange Cap with a total score of 670. KL scored 670 runs in just 14 innings with an unbelievable 55.8 run average but a whopping 129.3 hit rate. This year, KL scored 132 runs per innings; the highest score by an Indian player in the IPL.
At number three is Rishabh Pant, an undefeated beast in the 2018 IPL. Panter scored an incredible 684 runs in just 14 innings; an average of 49 runs per inning. This happens when most of his at-bats are 4s or fewer. With eight 40-plus points in the series, Panter averaged 52.6 points per game on 173.6 shooting, an astonishing feat.

In second place is this year’s Orange Cap holder Shubhaman Gill. Gill nearly repeated the cult following of 890 runs in 16 innings in 2016, averaging 59.3 runs and hitting 157.8. Gill has four 50s and three 100s this season, including back-to-back 100s.
No. 1 in this list, apart from G.O.A.T Virat Kohli, who scored a whopping 973 runs in the IPL 2016 edition. As long as players don’t play more than 17 games, the record seems unlikely to be achieved. Kohli scored 973 runs in 16 innings with an unbelievable 81.8 average and hit 152.
