New Delhi, Online Desk The purple cap of Indian Premier League 2022 has been named after Yuzvendra Chahal. In the final match, he dismissed Gujarat captain Hardik Pandya and got the purple captaincy. He dealt Gujarat their third shock with their 27th wicket of the season by having Hardik caught out by Yashasvi Jaiswal in the second ball of the 14th over. In the final match, he conceded just 20 runs in four overs and secured a crucial win for Hardik Pandya. This cap was worn by RCB bowler Wanindu Hasaranga before this match.

After going wicketless in two consecutive play-off matches, Chahal ended his wicket drought in the final and ended the IPL 2022 season with 27 wickets, surpassing Hasranga’s 26 wickets.
